A Mantra for 2016 or Life

Ah, the Mantra, let’s start with a definition first.

Wikipedia gives the definition of a Mantra  as a sacred utterance, numinous sound, or a syllable, word, phonemes, or group of words believed by some to have psychological and spiritual power in Sanskrit.

A mantra may or may not have syntactic structure or literal meaning; the spiritual value of a mantra comes when it is audible, visible, or present in thought.

Mantra are most often associated with meditation and yoga, but many business professionals are also using the idea of a mantra.   They are developing a a single phrase that defines themselves or their business.  much like a mission statement, but less future focused and more core focused who they are and what they feel.

So here is my personal Mantra.  I’ve had this Mantra for a couple of years and it took some time to get to it.  I wanted something simple, complete, yet expansive enough to carry with me for years to come.

“Health, Wealth, Happiness.”

Sounds pretty simple and basic right?  In these three words I found great power, balance and future.

I will being going in to more detail about each word in a future post, but for now I will take this out of my personal private practice and put it out to the Universe.

What’s your Mantra?  What’s at your core?

Making Room

As we head into 2016 many of us have made a resolutions to do something – go to the gym, stop smoking, loose weight and so on.

Well, I’m not going to be make a resolutions this year.  I’m going to be making room.  I going to be making room in my home, work and life for the things I want.  The challenge is how to make room when I already have so much “stuff” physical and emotional in my home, work and life.

The easy answer is to throw it all out, right?  Not exactly.  I’m not about to getting rid of the things I love, but there are plenty of things physical and emotional I can do without.

So then the questions becomes, once I make room what am I going to fill the space with.  Well, I’m not sure I want to fill all the space I hope to create, however some it will naturally be filled with the little things life brings our way each and every day.

As I go through this process, which I plan on taking slowly over the next few months, I’m hoping to make more room for family, friends, new memories and more smiles.  What will you be making room for in 2016?
