4 Little Things To Make Your Transition Better

While I was writing it, I kept thinking how these four simple things can help someone going through transition

We all want our lives to be the best they can be, right?

Well here are four little things you can start doing today to make your life 10 times better by next week!

1.  Be Positive!

Have you ever heard the statement “Like attracts Like”?  Maybe you haven’t heard the statement, but I bet you’ve experienced it!   The “Snowball Effect” – when one bad thing happens and we let that one thing start to effect everything else.

Well, the same is true when good things happen – good things attract more good things. We all know the person that anything they touch turns to gold or turns out just like they wanted.  That is the result of a positive mindset.

Now, don’t get me wrong and think just having a positive mindset will keep all bad things from happening because that is not going to happen.  However, a positive mindset can help a great deal when things when they do go wrong or not according to plan.

Transitioning is a very stressful process and there can be challenges and setbacks along the way- so staying positive is really important.

Next time something doesn’t go as well as you were hoping, remember you always have two choices – you can go positive or negative.  Which do you think will lead to a better outcome?

Saying and thinking positive things gives us positive emotions, which lead to the creating of a positive environment.

Keep the negative Nelly’s out of the room, surround yourself with positive people.  Emotions are contagious, so don’t overthink it, just do it!

2. Show Gratitude.

Like number one, being positive, showing gratitude is about seeing the bright side.

When you’re in transition it’s easy to list all of the things that haven’t happened.  We have a pile of things we complain about – being too tall, having a deep voice, not passing (whatever that means) to name a few.  but when was the last time you talked about or listed the things that were going well?  Maybe you’ve started hormones, or you’ve been accepted at school or work, Maybe you have supportive friends or enjoy making music.  Whatever those things are, remember them be thankful for them.

The best way to get out of a slump is to start listing all of the good things you have in your life.  Show gratitude for even the littlest thing can help shift your perspective and get you back on track.

A gratitude journal is a great place to start.  At the end of the day list three things you are most grateful for that day.  They can be a simple as being home with your loved ones or as big as closing that big deal.  Gratitude comes is all shapes and sizes, and bigger doesn’t always mean better!

3. Stop Procrastinating

This is a big one for a lot of people.  We all have those things we hate doing. We put them off and avoid them as long as possible.  What do you thing would happen if you put a little effort into complete those items we hate a little at a time.   Take cleaning for instance.  Many people hate cleaning, but if you do a little bit each day and get in the habit of cleaning up after yourself, the chore of cleaning is less daunting.

Here’s an example:  Cleaning the bedroom – start by making your bed when you get up – it doesn’t have to be hotel ready, but coming home to a made bed can have a relaxing effect.

When you take off your clothes, either put them away neatly or in the hamper.

Have you got too many clothes for your limited storage space?  Start by simplifying your wardrobe.  Go through your items and think when was the last time you wore it.  In the last six months – it’s a keeper if not, next question.  Do you love it? Yes, then keep it.  but if it’s a No, then give it away to a friend or drop it off at a donation center and get a tax deduction.

4. Be Authentic – Live Your Core Beliefs

Many of us spend our days comparing ourselves to others, especially when we’re in Transition.  We want what they have, do want they do, go where they go or look like they look.  But have you thought if all that stuff would really make you happy?  Do you know what would make you really happy?  Understand what’s at your core, who you are authentically and pursuing that stuff will make you happier!  Having stuff that isn’t connected to your core beliefs is just stuff taking up space and energy.  Who really needs more stuff, just for the sake of having more stuff?

Having stuff that isn’t connected to your core beliefs is just stuff taking up space and energy.  Who really needs more stuff, just for the sake of having more stuff?

So lighten your load and spend your time, energy and money on things that are really important to you and fill up your happiness tank.  When your tank is full, people will want what you have and you’ll know how to tell them to fill their own tank!

I hope you found these 4 little things as powerful as I believe they are.  I know they have each made a major impact in my daily life and I’m sure they can do the same for you.
